Book a chair

Our storyEst. 197414 Harbour Street

Same chairs since 1974

Pomade opened on Harbour Street with two chairs, one mirror and a radio. Fifty years on there are four chairs, the radio still works and the price list still fits on one board.

The shop floor at Pomade: barber chairs, mirrors and a brick wall

The first barber cut dock workers before their shift and their sons after school. Sal joined as an apprentice in 1998 and bought the shop in 2011, on the condition that nothing on the walls would change.

What did change is the work: skin fades next to scissor cuts, a razor chair for hot towel shaves and a booking page, so nobody waits on the bench longer than one coffee.
